Whether you are a singer, play the saxophone, piano or another instrument, it’s possible to make your dream a reality as you fight to become a jazz artist. Even Nat King Cole started somewhere so actually get out there and do something with your talent.

You need to hone your style, it’s important to have something unique about you if you want to get noticed and really make a name for yourself. You should record yourself and listen to it back, also show off your work to family and friends.
When you are more confident with your skills, attend open mic nights in your area – a lot of them. You are never going to become a jazz artist if you do not perform for others and open mic nights is the best way to do this. The dream at these kind of nights is that you get “discovered”, a hidden talent if you will. While this is unlikely it isn’t heard of. You should consider contacting a booking agency and see if you can get onto their books.
Never give up on what you enjoy doing, jazz is an art and if you have a talent, chase the dream.
